About Susan Sweet


Susan now lives in Boulder, Colorado, after spending 20 years in Chicago. Susan graduated from Drake University with a BA from the School of Journalism & Mass Communications in 1990. She majored in Advertising & Public Relations, and had concentrations in Marketing & Management. She developed pro bono campaigns with Ad Club and PRSSA, cheered the Bulldogs as a pom pom girl, led volunteer efforts for Alpha Phi sorority, and worked as a Student Ambassador, giving campus tours. 


And then she went to work. First in PR at The Wells Group in Minneapolis, MN, then in advertising account management at West & Vaughan in Durham, NC.  She started her career in marketing research at Decision Insight in Kansas City, MO, where she was encouraged to become a moderator after training at the RIVA Institute. She's been moderating since 1994. 


Susan was a fixture in the Chicago qualitative research community. She spent 2 years in international qualitative with Millward Brown, and more than 10 years as a Vice President with Doyle Research Associates. She spent the past 2 years as a Research Director with Hall & Partners.


She is an active member of the QRCA and AQR and regularly volunteers for both. She served two terms on the QRCA's Board of Directors, and has served as a speaker selection chair for the QRCA-AQR Worldwide Qualitative Conferences in Rome (2012), Budapest (2014) and Vienna (2016), and has spoken at local, national and international conferences.  


Outside of work, Susan is a passionate mom, devoted wife, grateful daughter, nosy sister, earnest friend, enthusiastic tap dancer, skilled online shopper, joyful cook, curious traveler, avid reader and a seeker of truth.
